Whomever you forgive anything, so do I. For indeed what I have forgiven, if I have forgiven anything, has been for you in the person of Christ, so that we might not be taken advantage of by Satan, for we are not unaware of his purposes. [2 Corinthians 2:10-11]

The Sacrament of Confession

Also called ‘Penance’ and ‘Reconciliation,’ the sacrament of Confession is administered by a priest. It absolves the recipient of all mortal and venial sin, reconciles them to God and the Church, and brings both consolation and increase of spiritual strength to the soul.

Confession at St. Rosalie’s

Confessions are scheduled at St. Rosalie’s every Saturday at 4:00 p.m., and every Monday at 5:00 p.m. in the church. To schedule a confession outside of those hours, please contact the parish office. You are not required to give your name, or the reason for your coming, when you schedule your confession. Please note that the confessionals at St. Rosalie’s have the option both for face-to-face and for the screen.

The Seal of Confession

The priest is never permitted to reveal any information about the individual confessions which are made to him (the ‘Seal of Confession’). Anything revealed in a confession will never be known to anyone other than the priest (who usually forgets!) – this includes other priests, spouses, and even the police.
